Revive an Old Computer and Reach The Lost with Christian Linux Distro!

Warning: Tech Speak ahead!
Computers4Christians released the Born Again C4C Ubuntu 22.04 in June – two months after the Ubuntu flavor it’s based on, Xubuntu, released theirs. C4C Ubuntu is a complete operating system (like the MacOS or Windows but free) and can often resurrect a dead or dying machine – even one riddled with viruses. This lightweight Christian Ubuntu derivative is designed to work fast on most every desktop, tower, laptop and notebook made in the last decade. C4C Ubuntu uses the Xfce Desktop Environment and works well on older and less expensive hardware.

This Christian ISO runs live via bootable media (DVD, SD Card or USB key), meaning users can try it first without actually installing it. Although the system is slower when running this way, it’s fully functional. And booting a computer into a live environment like this can give the user access to rescue long lost files, even if the previous operating system is no longer working. The Disk Usage Analyzer allows users to visually see what’s on the drive(s), hidden folders can be shown just by pressing [Ctrl]+[H] and things like Windows permissions don’t matter here.

Our Goal:
Computers4Christians’ ultimate goal though, is to have as many people possible install C4C Ubuntu. C4C Ubuntu users (whether running a live or installed system) are exposed to God’s Word with several Bible versions, commentaries, dictionaries, maps, Christian teachings, daily devotionals, Christian videos, Bible games and more. Plus, the secular stuff; an office suite, web browser, email program, financial software, graphics applications, etc. And with a connection to the Internet, users have easy access to over 60,000 more free software packages. There’s nothing to buy, no registration required and no advertisements. Computers4Christians’ only prays that every C4C Ubuntu ISO will help bring the user(s) to Christ, or closer to God.

The group first developed their Christian Linux distribution (or distro) in 2011 to put on donated computers they would then refurbish and give away – like giant, digital tracts. They re-spun their own Christian version of Ubuntu, then Lubuntu (and now Xubuntu) and put it on over 1,000 systems they gave away for free to whomever requested one in their area. Although they tried for years to get C4C chapters going in other places, the concept never took off anywhere outside of Cheyenne, Wyoming (that they know of).

Computers4Christians no longer takes in or gives away hardware and the small team of three Christian computer geeks that comprise Computers4Christians is always online and we welcome all Australians to access it at http://computers4christians.org
